After launching around the world — from the BBC Music Introducing hosts Amplify conference in London last October to SXSW in Austin, TX, this past March — AWAL finally takes over NYC for a full day of epic, artist-community-building events and a music showcase at two of Brooklyn’s hottest venues.
On June 8, during the Northside Festival in Greenpoint, we’re so excited to present the AWAL Artist Lounge at Brooklyn Brewery as a place for independent artists and managers to meet, hang out, learn from expert speakers, and network. Later, the day programming will be capped off by a showcase at Baby’s All Right, featuring live performances and DJ sets from fast-rising AWAL artists.

The lineup for our Summer Party inside Baby’s main room runs the gamut from introspective songwriters to dance to hip-hop — and beyond. Kicking off the festivities is soulful pop duo WESLEE, who are celebrating the June 8 release of their debut EP F-9, which features the irresistible “Sweat Dreams.”

Following WESLEE is Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Matt Simons who will treat the room to a stripped, piano performance of his new hit single, “We Can Do Better,” off his forthcoming album releasing this fall. Fresh off a month-long North American tour, Brooklyn’s own pop/R&B songstress Janelle Kroll will perform tracks from her latest EP, plus a new song dropping in June.
From AWAL’s UK base, Otzeki will bring their progressive electronic rhythms to Northside and celebrate the release of their first LP in late May. As we saw at the SXSW AWAL x B3SCI Showcase in March, the duo’s performance is truly another dimension.
Capping off the evening is Dizzy Fae, a rising star from Minneapolis with a stunning voice, magnetic energy, and a signature hip-hop-meets-alternative sound. NYC’s Penguin Prison closes out the night in the main room with a special DJ set bringing out all the party vibes.

Meanwhile, in our bar/Lounge, enjoy additional DJ sets from NYC’s beloved Big Data, who is dropping a new nugget, “See Through,” the same day; Warner Case, and Ms White + DJ Ocean Cat.
