All stores require UPC and ISRC codes for catalogue supplied to them, and AWAL can set up these codes for you if required.
- The UPC (Universal Product Code or barcode number) identifies the product bundle (or album, EP etc) and is generally a 12 or 13 digit number.
- The ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is an alphanumeric code that identifies the individual tracks on an album. Thus, an eleven track album will consist of one UPC and eleven ISRCs.
AWAL can set up both of these codes free of charge, however the following should be noted:
- The UPC is a unique code, and you must only use the code given to you.
- The ISRC is assigned on a recording basis, not a song basis, therefore a radio edit should have a different ISRC to a remix.
- Both the UPC & ISRC are used to identify content, and therefore royalty payments, so once the codes are set up and the products are uploaded, these codes cannot be changed.
